I have been around horses all my life and riding horses for the last 18 years. I started out showing 4-H for about 8 years and then went to my 1st A-Rated show in September of 2009. I took a 2 year old filly that I had been working with and placed 2nd in 2 classes (Sport Horse Suitability and Trail In-Hand).

My first horse was a pony and within a year I had outgrown her and moved to a Quarter horse. Within a few years I was riding all 7 horses on our property and finally fell in love with the paint horse named Joe. Then I worked for another trainer for 4 years and was riding at least 4 horses a day and sometimes more. Now I train horses on my own and still manage to get home and ride my horses. I have also taken over another horse on the farm, a Breeding Stock Paint named Cassie, and I have been taking Dressage lessons with her. We went to our first show together in September 2010. We did very well and are looking forward to showing again this year.

I train every horse as if it was my own. I would never do anything to one that I would not feel comfortable doing to my own. I create a bond with the horse, so the horse knows to trust me. When an animal trusts a person, it shows and the training process goes much smoother. The bond is not permanent, as anyone will be able to work with the horse when I am done, but solid enough to have a great working relationship. I start with the basics including ground manners and then continue with ground work in hand and right into the saddle work. I focus on the respect of the horse to the handler, horse and handler should be able to walk side by side comfortably.
